| Vitéz Andris Kursietis has been a researcher of military history for over fifty years, using resources that span the globe. His latest book, â The Royal Saxon Army and its Commanders, 1900-1918â contains the biographies of 209 officers who reached the rank of General in the army of the Kingdom of Saxony in the years leading up to World War I and during the conflict. Also included is a listing of the major commands of the Saxon Army and a chronological listing of their commanders. Until recently, Kursietis served as the Chairman, President and CEO of the Latvian Welfare Association in the USA (Daugavas Vanagi ASV), as well as Vice-Chairman of the organizationâ s international board. He has been married to Rosemarie for thirty-eight years, and credits her for encouraging him to share the fruits of his many years of research with a wider audience of historians. For his previous work on the Hungarian military, in September 2022 Kursietis was knighted in the Hungarian Knightly Order of Vitéz. |
