As the title suggests, the book is about development experiences of developing countries under globalisation. While the issues discussed in this book are diverse, a strong emphasis has been placed on trade; the knowledge economy and human capital; poverty alleviation and environment. An attempt has been made in this book to link each issue to the globalisation process and also to link one issue to the other in a "cause and effect" relationship. Selected papers have been included in this volume which were first presented at the Sixth International Institute for Development Studies (IIDS) Conference on Development (New Series) at the Mauritius University of Technology, in Mauritius in July 2008, and then went through a two-stage refereeing process prior to their inclusion in this book.
